“Skype announced plans to offer Wi-Fi phones worldwide over the next few months as its parent, eBay, tries to increase use of the VoIP service to increase online sales. Skype said consumers will be able to buy the phones from Belkin, Edge-Core, Netgear, and SMC through Skype’s online store and use them without service fees, creating new competition for the few VoIP phone providers already in the Wi-Fi market…” (Read full article here)

“Ipsos Vantis, a market research firm which predicts consumer trends, released the results of a survey last week which forecast that consumers will overwhelmingly choose HD-DVD as the format of choice in the next-generation DVD wars. The survey reported that, if all studios supported both formats, consumers were more than seven times more likely to buy an HD-DVD player than a competing Blu-ray player….” (Read full article here)

“If adult entertainment publisher Perfect 10 gets its way in its lawsuit against Google, millions of web publishers, bloggers, and web users will suddenly be on the wrong side of copyright law. Perfect 10 claims that Google violates its copyrights by indexing Perfect 10 photos posted on unauthorized websites as well as making and delivering thumbnail images of those photos. Despite the fact that Google promptly removes these links when notified, Perfect 10 sued.
