Technology turning staff into work addicts

“Firms that wire up their workers with BlackBerry devices and other equipment that provides always-on connectivity with the office may wind up with liability for encouraging addiction among staff, US researchers warned today. Gayle Porter, an associate professor of management at the Rutgers-Camden School of Business, said that the “fast and relentless pace of technology-enhanced work environments creates a source of stimulation that may become addictive…” (Read full article here)

Samsung takes the crown: largest LCD screen ever built

“The South Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung has recently announced the launch for 2007 of the largest liquid crystal display screen (LCD) in the world, with a diagonal of 70 inches (1.78 meters). Until now, the record in this area was detained by Sharp’s LCD, which has a diagonal reaching 65 inches (1.65 meters).The new device will be unveiled at the International Meeting on Information Displays (IMID) 2006, in Daegu, Korea. Samsung’s latest LCD panel has a 1080p resolution a conical viewing angle of 180 degrees and video signal of 120Hz…” (Read full article here)

Sony slashes PS2 price in Europe, introduces pink version

“With more than 106 million units already shipped worldwide, the PS2 just became more affordable in Europe. The PS3 might break the bank for most, but those new to gaming in Europe could do well to pick up the PS2 at its new low price of 129.99 euros.
