“A US court is forcing the Recording Industry of America to explain why it charges people it catches pirating $750 a single rather than the 70 cents they flog them to retailers for. In the case UMG v. Lindor, Judge Trager has allowed Ms Lindor, who the RIAA claim is a pirate, to challenge the $750 a track it wants in damages. The RIAA fought to prevent the amendment to Ms Lindor’s case, claiming it was not up to her to decide damages. They said that her complaint about the level of damages was without merit and if the amendment went ahead it would prejudice them…” (Read full article here)

Nolan Bushnell, founder of all things at one point joyous to children, is featured in an interview with Red Herring where he is asked for his opinion on the state of the video game industry today. “I think Sony shot themselves in the foot… there is a high probability [they] will fail. The price point is probably unsustainable. For years and years Sony has been a very difficult company to deal with from a developer standpoint. “Kevin Federline wasted no time in responding to his estranged wife Britney Spears’ divorce plans by filing his own papers in Los Angeles Wednesday. Just a day after news broke of Spears’ divorce plans, which she filed in Los Angeles on Monday, Federline’s attorney Mark Kaplan filed the rapper’s response. According to the documents, Federline is asking for legal and physical custody of the couple’s children, Sean Preston and Jayden James. “Windows-using Skype fans can now download beta 3 of the venerable VoIP application. Skype 3.0 sports a handful of new features, including Skypecasts, Public Chats, Click-to-call, and a redesigned user interface. Public Chats allow Skype 3.0 users to create and join large text chatrooms that appear to operate much like IRC chatrooms. Moderators can direct conversation topics, kick users, and determine who can participate in chats and to what extent. “Microsoft struck deals with Warner Bros. and Paramount to offer on-demand movie rentals through its Xbox Live Video Marketplace. The site currently offers video game demos, movie trailers and music videos.
