“Targeting competitors such as Amazon.com, Inc. and Netflix Inc., mammoth Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has launched a pilot entry into the on-demand movie business. The Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer today announced that customers can now download videos onto their PCs from what it is calling a beta Web site. Buyers can choose from among 3,000 movie or television titles that can be quickly downloaded to a PC and viewed there or transferred to a laptop or portable media player device.
