“Today, Google updated its Gmail service to allow signups from anyone in the world — no invitation required and no mobile phone required. Previously, new users were required to sign-up using their mobile phones, or receive an invitation request from an existing Gmail user. “AMD has grown tired of hearing about Intel’s four-core Xeon wonders and so countered today with some faster Opterons and some lower-voltage ones. If you can’t beat them with cores, beat them with variety. The little chip maker that could has ratcheted up the top speeds of its high-end, standard power Opteron chips from 2.4GHz to 2.8GHz. And that speed bump comes at no extra cost to the customer. Customers will now find the Model 8220, Model 2220 and Model 1220 chips shipping where previously AMD only offered so-called “SE” versions of Opteron with a higher-power envelope. ” Be it from a serious lack of patience or a life-and-death need to play games, it seems that some Nvidia users are so irked at the lack of stable drivers for Vista that they are threatening to sue. Citing the “Vista Ready” label as being misleading, several of these people are talking about bringing a class action suit against the company, due to the various issues that the current wave of drivers have, particularly the flagship 8800 series cards. “Going by a post on SlySoft’s support forum, it looks like they are already working an alpha version of AnyDVD HD, according to this WesleyTech report, which claims to have reached a stage where it can rip and decrypt every HD DVD disc tested so far. Like how AnyDVD can remove control locks on DVDs, they aim to develop the tool to remove annoying trailers, the lengthy “HD DVD is great” logo and the FBI warning, most of which cannot be skipped generally…” (Read full article here)
