SlySoft releases beta version of AnyDVD HD

“SlySoft has released a beta version of AnyDVD HD, version 6.1.2.0. This beta version adds support for new versions of Sony’s Arccos protection, fixes a problem with multi-angle titles and Sony Arccos protection and includes various other minor fixes and improvements. For those not familiar with AnyDVD HD, this will offer the ability to rip HD DVD movie titles to either backup on another HD DVD or to allow high definition playback on non-HDCP compliant digital displays and graphics cards, assuming the user’s PC has enough processing power to properly play HD DVD content…” (Read full article here)

U.S. group wants Canada blacklisted over piracy

“A powerful coalition of U.S. software, movie and music producers is urging the Bush administration to put Canada on an infamous blacklist of intellectual property villains, alongside China, Russia and Belize. Canada’s chronic failure to modernize its copyright regime has made it a global hub for bootleg movies, pirated software and tiny microchips that allow video-game users to bypass copyright protections, the International Intellectual Property Alliance complains in a submission to the U.S. government. The time has come for the United States to send a stern warning to Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s government, which has failed to deliver on a promised overhaul of copyright laws and a policing crackdown, said the Washington-based group that represents companies such as Microsoft, Apple and Paramount Pictures…” (Read full article here)

Nvidia releases 320MB 8800 GTS

“Nvidia Corp., world leader in GPU technologies for video and graphics cards, has a launched a new version of its GeForce 8800 GTS graphics chip, which has 320 MB of video memory. This latest GeForce 8800 GTS is a variant of GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB, except that is has half the video memory and its cost is lesser. It features the same 500 MHz core and 800 MHz clock speeds as the 640 MB variant and systems manufacturers can set their own clock speeds on overclocked models. There is also no change in the memory interface. The new card will also have 96 shader processors…” (Read full article here)
